New for the 2027 administration

Find your AP Exam start time

Start times now depend on your location’s UTC offset in May. Use the May 2027 offset—not necessarily the offset your location uses today.

Read the official start-time guidance

What is not changing

  • Most schools still start at 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. local time.
  • That includes the lower 48 U.S. states, Hawaii, and Washington, D.C.
  • Exams may begin up to 1 hour after the officially listed start time.

What is changing

  • Some schools now use start times set by specified time zones.
  • “Session 1” and “Session 2” replace morning and afternoon.
  • In Alaska, sessions begin at 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. local time.

How to use the table

  1. 1

Find your May offset. Check the UTC offset your location will use in May 2027.

  2. 2

Match the row. Locate that exact offset in the official table below.

  3. 3

Confirm locally. Ask your coordinator for the reporting time and room.

College Board says an online location lookup tool is coming in fall 2026.
